CMS Hispanic Heritage Festival

CMS Hispanic Heritage Festival

Even the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of Concord Magnet School family, friends and staff at the school’s 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 14, 2023. The day was filled with food, music, dancing, crafts and fun!

CMS families proudly dressed in colorful, traditional clothing and shared a variety of delicious foods from their cultures. Craft activities and face painting for the children was provided by CMS students.

Since the event was moved indoors due to the weather, cafeteria tables were moved aside to make room for dancing to the music of Tito Planas and the Afinke Orquestra, featuring former CMS student and staff member Elba Llantin-Cruz. Highlighting  the event was a student-led Conga line!

Many thanks to Erick Rivera and Medard Thomas for organizing the event; Special Guests included Board of Education Chairperson Diana Carpio and Board Member Mary Ellen Flaherty-Ludwig. Also, special thanks to US Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona who was unable to attend but sent us a video message.

We would also like to acknowledge our sponsors Aji10 Restaurant, Manny’s Deli, El Idolo Restaurant, La Sorpresa Y Mas, La Calle Restaurant, CityWide Church, CitySounds, and Growing Minds Family Preschool.
