Keeping the Dream Alive for Others
It has been forty-five years since the doors of Columbus Magnet School first opened to some pioneering families and faculty. Through the dedication of faculty, committed parents and beautiful children it has thrived as a model for what education can and should be for young children. It also became a community that focused attention not only on academics but on “carrying that rainbow wherever we go.”
We know how families have valued their time at Columbus Magnet, now known as Concord Magnet K-8. Parents and students still speak of the incredible years spent at CMS and what a profound impact the education and sense of community had on their development.
Let’s help to keep the journey of learning going by helping support scholarships for our graduates through the Arthur Perschino Scholarship Fund. The fund was started by Delores Scott, a Columbus School Faculty Member, to honor “Mr P”, the first principal of Columbus and the inspirational leader of the school in its beginning years. Over the years it has awarded scholarships to graduates of Brien McMahon High School and Norwalk High School who attended Columbus Magnet School.
We have an anonymous matching donation of $5000 that will be given if we can equal or better that amount in donations from our community of alumni. Here is a chance to show your appreciation for what Columbus-Concord Magnet School has given you and to help the next generation follow their dreams into higher education.
Let’s see if we can make this happen! Spread the word to friends and families from this wonderful community that called this place a second home for a good part of their lives.
We know Mr. P is smiling down on us and whether you were at Columbus during those years or while Marilyn Liberatore, Emily Lopez or Medard Thomas were Principal, surely your years there were immeasurably touched by them and the staff that lovingly taught here.
